DAT 403 – Task – Week 3 – Character Animation Walk Cycle

For the character animation walk cycle task, my intention was that the character that I created during the vector character design session would used in After Effects to generate a walk cycle animation. However, this proved impractical and too time consuming, so I created a simplified character. In Illustrator, the separate elements of the character each had their own layer to aid later animation, e.g. head, body, left leg, right arm, etc.

DAT 403 – Movie poster tropes – What are they?

“A literary trope is the use of figurative language – via word, phrase, or even an image – for artistic effect such as using a figure of speech. The word trope has also come to be used for describing commonly recurring literary and rhetorical devices, motifs or clichés in creative works.”

DAT 401 – Assignment – Week 4 – Remixes Mashups and the Readymade

Guitar - Try Me!

Brief: Working individually or in your groups, produce an intervention/remix/readymade action that will be documented as a short film.

Your intervention can be street-based, in a public place, or part of your home or univeristy life. It can also take place online, e.g. an adbust, mashup or remix.

Myself and Jordan Trembeth decided to create an artistic intervention by placing musical instruments (two guitars and bongos) in a public setting. The setting we chose was a busy area of the Plymouth University campus.

We were interested to see people’s reaction and engagement with these items being placed literally in their path in an environment where such things would be incongruous and unexpected.

DAT 401 – #LoveYourMorphology: Blade Runner vs Match.com

Following on from the previous post, I spent some time mashing up some clips from my favourite movie, Blade Runner, with the audio from the latest match.com television advert.

I find match.com‘s adverts annoying upbeat and optimistic, but this was perfect to juxtapose with the gloomy distopian visuals of the film.
